b-ventures’ mission is to accelerate the growth of tech startups by leveraging Buongiorno’s experience in innovation, taking advantage of its consolidated worldwide infrastructure and well-established business relationships.Upon being accepted into the b-ventures program, these selected Italian and European startups are housed at Buongiorno’s Parma headquarters where they will get intensive coaching by Buongiorno’s experienced international management team and alumni.

b-ventures is indeed the perfect expression of Buongiorno’s historically renowned interest in developing and supporting new business ideas.

We are currently hosting five startups and I want to mention an important recent achievement regarding one of them. Aerodron is the first Italian company using drones to offer highly accurate professional-grade low altitude aerial photography for a wide variety of applications. Aerodron has just closed its first financing round for 400,000 Euro (the first tranche on Nov 27 for 110,000 Euro, and the second tranche on January 2014 for the remaining 290,000 Euro). The first tranche has been underwritten by CGR (the worldwide leader in the production and processing of aerial information from remote sensing aircraft) and Capital B! (the investment vehicle under my control).

As for the other four startups currently enrolled at b-ventures, here is a summary of what they do:

Wisocial is a startup that turns Wi-Fi networks into marketing tools. The Wisocial platform consists of a hardware device that connects an ADSL router to the Wisocial backend server to deliver its suite of services.

Bestiacce is a startup for pet-lovers, aiming to make life better for orphaned pets and the people who want to adopt them. The model for achieving this goal is powered by three main services: Smart Match, Smart Help and Smart Shop.

P-Commerce is an e-commerce startup with five vertical sites. Two of them are currently online and three others are in development. Born in 2011, the most successful is now “Progetto Wedding”, a website dedicated to customizing all the details of a wedding.

Caffeina is a startup focused on digital marketing. It is a full service agency providing clients with digital marketing and development expertise for products and services supported by their Marketing, Design and Platform Development departments.

In the next three months we’ll continue to collect new ideas and proposals on our website, carefully screening them in order to discover other deserving projects. A short list of startups will be invited to present their business concepts at our next ‘Pitch Day’ in early March 2014. The best of these will be selected to join the b-ventures program.

As usual, we will keep our eyes opened, scanning the horizon for any and all interesting opportunities that we come across.

Before signing off, I want to remind you that any contribution, suggestion or introduction that you can make to b-ventures is more than welcome.
