Customer Loyalty: Vodafone aims at MyShopping, the discount app that can be downloaded on Android

MyShopping is based on the Vouchercloud platform and the discount codes can also be used for acquisitions in shops and restaurants

Once upon a time paper coupons were used, now they are called digital vouchers. And they are one of the most commonly used tools in the world to create customer loyalty, with which, for example, Groupon created a business out of and reaped much consequent success.

This is why Vodafone has now also launched its own app for digital vouchers. It is called MyShopping and is based on the Vouchercloud platform. The application allows all Vodafone customers to access discounts and deals that have been created exclusively for them. All of the vouchers present on MyShopping are completely free, and to access them one must simply enroll in the Vodafone You loyalty program in order to use the advantages that have been made available by the mobile phone giant. There are 25% discounts for stays at NH hotels that are located throughout Italy, 2 euro discounts at TotalErg gas stations, 10 euro credit at the Bottega Verde shops, and 30 euros for acquisitions made at the Eataly online shop.

The discount code that is obtained with the application must be inserted at the time of payment on the partner website. But the objective seems to go beyond merely creating customer loyalty (which is fundamental). It is also pushing towards an increased convergence between the online world and the physical one. The offers, in fact, are available online as well as in real shops and restaurants.

At the time of payment, it is sufficient to show the voucher code on one’s smartphone. This is one of the most efficient and direct marketing and communications channels. With push notifications the app sends messages about all of the new offers available. The categories range from restaurants to clothing, from travel to entertainment. And by exploiting geolocalization functions, MyShopping is also capable of identifying and proposing offers that are within the customer’s proximity. This interesting application, whose developments we will definitely be following closely, is currently available for download on the Android operating system, but by fall it will also be available for Windows Mobile.
