In Florence we visit the Kentstrapper laboratory, where the Cantini family manufactures 3D printers.

What comes to a father’s mind when his sons starts talking about 3D printers, this new thing that was out of the italian market? “We jumped on the car and we ran to get a non-working 3D printer, and we started working on this “thing” that was at the time almost obscure to me” said Ugo Cantini. But the excitement of doing something new prevailed “and help us to start this challenge“.

Why did two young brothers get into the 3D printing and making world? Lorenzo replies that they always liked to understand how do things worked, and to build them by themselves. “We did some researches online and we get to this RepRap project of open-source 3D printers”. All that thing became serious, all the family “folled us and it’s been a joy to do something that was completely unknow for everyone”. The power of the share is that everybody can go told us: “My Father, that is into seventies, joined the challenge to do his part”. They assembly the printers, reply to the mail, and meanwhile they keep on doing research, because “It’s important to do innovation inside your product“.
